A 13-year-old boy died of injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident Sunday afternoon in Porter Township.

According to state police at Schuylkill Haven, the teen was driving a dirt bike on a private driveway leading to Summit Anthracite, when he failed to see a steel cable strung across the driveway.

The cable struck the boy in the upper chest, Trooper Chad M. Smith said.

Dutcavich said the victim died of blunt force trauma to the neck and spine. The cause of death was determined to be accidental, he said.
